Project Details
Project: Soil nails & mini gabion mattress
Location: Solihull
Contract Duration: 20 Days
Area Treated: 655m2
The construction of a soil nail stabilised steep slope was concluded to be the most cost effective approach to provide much needed additional storage facilities for a major UK car manufacture. Excavating into the toe of an existing slope a 70 degree steep slope with a maximum height of some 8.0metres above adjacent hard standing level and some 100.0metres total length was formed.
Working with the Main Contractor, Intec Project Solutions Ltd and JTS Geotechnical Solutions Ltd provided the design and installation of the soil nails and integral stone filled heavy duty gabion mattress facing as preferred by the client.
Installation utilises a top down construction technique where soil nailing and associated facing elements stabilises the 70 degree face as excavation proceeds layer by layer. The soil nail stabilised steep slope including facing was completed within 20 days.
