About this Project
Stabilisation of an existing 200 year old stone wall adjacent to a public road. The aim of this project was to support an existing stone wall which was collapsing, with debris spilling into the adjacent road. The road had to be closed for safety and temporary supports had been placed to provide short term support. These supports were adjusted as the works progressed to facilitate installation of the soil nails.
Once the nails were installed mini piles were drilled to provide a footing and a new wall constructed in front of the existing. The soil nails were also extended through the new wall to tie both walls together.
The overall length of the wall was 250m with a height of 2m, a total of 400 No. 6m long soil nails were installed in 2 rows.
